Vietnam to combat prejudice against foreigners in order to protect the reputation of tourism

The government is worried about the growing prejudice of tourism establishments against foreigners due to coronavirus fears and is calling for a crackdown on it.

It directed all local authorities and tourism authorities to strictly punish perpetrators of these actions in order to preserve the tourism image of the country.

Protecting tourism image

Dr Luong Hoai Nam, member of the Tourism Advisory Council, said: “ I do not condemn the hotels that reject Western tourists as discrimination, they worry , they have the right to worry, the most important thing is how to deal with the situation, ensure that there is no discrimination against Western tourists and serve them in a secure, organized way. “

Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa , deputy director of the HCMC Tourism Department, said several places discriminated against visitors, adversely affecting the tourism picture in Vietnam.

 Countrywide officials have been calling against discrimination to protect the image of the country. Hue . Hoi An and Da nang authorities have urged hotels and restaurants to remain welcoming to international visitors.

The novel coronavirus slashed an estimated $7 billion off Vietnam tourism revenue in January- February with the number of hotel guests dropping by 60-70 % year-on-year, Chief of Government office Mai Tien Dung said at last week ‘s conference.
