Our day begins with a comfortable pick-up from the Saigontourist Office, 102 Nguyen Hue. We set off on a journey designed to soothe the soul and awaken the senses.
We find our first sanctuary at Tuong Van Monastery, a peaceful haven amidst the suburban landscape. The gentle rustling of leaves and the quiet ambiance create a space for introspection. We'll appreciate the simple elegance of its architecture and the sense of calm it inspires.
Our journey continues to Tan Tuc Temple, an ancient communal house nestled near the Cho Dem River. The river's gentle flow and the surrounding greenery provide a backdrop of natural tranquility. We'll take a moment to appreciate the harmony between the temple and its natural setting.
The incense-making village of Le Minh Xuan commune is a sensory delight. The vibrant colors of drying incense sticks, illuminated by the sun, create a visual feast. The aromatic scent of cinnamon and other natural ingredients fills the air, a reminder of the earth's bounty.
Thanh Tam Pagoda, the "Lonely Buddha Pagoda," is a sanctuary of natural beauty and spiritual significance. The 30-hectare grounds are adorned with lush trees, miniature gardens, and exquisitely sculpted statues. The 4 ton Shakyamuni Buddha and the octagonal buddha create a focal point of peaceful contemplation. We will admire the nature surrounding the holy building. Notably, during the Vesak Festival, Thanh Tam Pagoda houses Sacred Relics (Sarira): one from the Buddha, originating in India, and another, the heart relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc, both displayed within the inner monastery for public veneration.
Visit the Vietnam Buddhist Academy, which holds the distinction of being the first Buddhist university in the country, demonstrates a unique integration of nature and scholarship, creating a serene and reflective learning space.
