Charming Northwest region in the “Golden Season”

  • 15/08/2022

From September to October every year, the terraced fields on the Northwest highlands show an “eyeful” of beauty with golden colors winding around the hillsides. For those who are passionate about the breathtaking scenery of the Northwest mountains in the “golden season,” below are a few suggestions before making this memorable photo hunting trip.

Compared to other destinations, the time of the photo-hunting plays a very important role, determining the success of your “gold rush” trip. People in the Northwest only grow one rice crop a year, so the rice is not sown at the same time, making the rice ripening time uneven. Rice in Sapa (Lao Cai), Quan Ba (Ha Giang) ripens the earliest, followed by Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai)… According to local people, the best time is from mid-September to late October when the localities begin to harvest. At this period, the weather is dry, making it comfortable and easy to travel, especially when you want to enjoy and explore.

The perfect moment: If you want to capture the sunrise on the beautiful golden waves of rice, you should get up early and arrive around 4h30 to 5h00 to wait for dawn. Remember to reserve the travelling time to catch the dawn. If you want to capture the sunset, you should also choose the location and go early from noon to reach your destination by 13-14h00 to capture a beautiful angle.
