Unable to return home due to canceled flights and closed borders as a result of steps to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) , foreign tourists in the central Vietnam town of Hoi An enjoy the locality in its daily charm. Anne , a French citizen thoroughly enjoys an extended stay with her family at a resort in Hoi An, in the central province of Quang Nam.

In response to dramatic developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam released a series of administrative orders this month including travel restrictions that resulted in disruptions to a significant number of international outbound flights.

They are definitely not lonely though away from home: Hoi An government officials, accommodation owners, and local residents have shown no hesitation in ensuring that the visitors are provided with bed, board, and any support they need for a comfortable stay. Many visitors saw this as an opportunity to explore Hoi An in all its secrecy and austerity by immersing themselves in the local lifestyle, including grocery shopping, cooking and gardening as the locals do.
