Thick white clouds have become a trademark of Sa Pa, a cool resort town in the Lao Cai Province from January to March at its magical peak.
Photography enthusiasts Bui Xuan Viet of Dong Nai Province and Tran Minh Dung and Ao Kim Ngoc of Ho Chi Minh City
made a long journey to Sa Pa to take pictures before and after the Lunar New Year holiday (January 23-29).
Sa Pa, located about 300 kilometers (186 miles) from Hanoi, has grown in popularity as a tourist destination in the
highlands, where one can walk around at leisure or go on difficult mountain treks.
It is home to the popular "love market" on Saturday night, a vibrant exhibition of ethnic minority culture in the city.
Gothic stone church designed by French missionaries in the center of town,Mount Fansipan and terraced rice fields are
sights that year after year attract thousands of visitors.
On top of Ham Rong Mountain in Sa Pa, 1,850 m above sea level, is one of the most beautiful places to hunt clouds.
O Long tea hill near O Quy Ho Pass, located about seven kilometers from the center of Sa Pa City, is covered in thick
clouds and mist.
Early one morning, O Quy Ho Pass
The 50km pass, situated 2,000 meters above sea level, connects with the provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau.
The road at its nearest point seven kilometers from Sa Pa, is dangerous because of the steep gorges which lie along it.
A rendezvous between a fairy and a woodcutter called O Quy Ho is named after the Love Waterfall myth.
Clouds swirl about the village of Sau Chua, six kilometers from the middle of Sa Pa. Sau Chua is known as Sa Pa's
Cinderella because it has avoided the tourist boom that has led to overcrowding and never-ending growth.
A Buddhist pagoda atop Mount Fansipan, Indochina's highest peak at a height of 3,143 meters (10,311 feet).
Fancipan is situated at the mountain range of Hoang Lien Son, Lao Cai Province, 9 km southwest of Sa Pa.
The pagoda is a microcosm of Vietnamese Buddhist architecture, taken from styles found across the country in various
famous pagodas. Visitors can see a grand Buddha, Vietnam's tallest 21.5 meter bronze statue, made from thousands of bronze pieces.
To Vietnamese trekkers Fansipan is a mecca. But now a cable car has come to the rescue, to novice trekkers.
The station is located in Muong Hoa Valley and operates the cable car from 7.30 a.m until 4.30 p.m.
In the northern highlands terraced rice fields are shrouded in thick clouds.
