Spring flowers festival returns to expats-packed neighborhood in Ho Chi Minh City

  • 21/01/2020

The Phu My Hung Spring Flowers Festival 2020 opened on Friday in the Phu My Hung urban area where a vibrant expats community lives in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, featuring the beauty of Vietnamese flora.

The festival, which has been organized annually since 2012, is themed ‘Ruoc loc dong hoa’ (Welcome luck from flower gardens) this year, showcasing the settings of a Vietnamese rural area.

Statues of rats, the zodiac of the year 2020 in the lunar calendar, were also on display.

The concept of the fair, like previous years, comprises four main parts - spring road, spring wharf, spring garden, and spring contribution - covering an area of seven hectares in the Phu My Hung neighborhood.

The spring road stretches 700 meters on Ton Dat Tien Street, displaying flowers sourced from all parts of Vietnam. The spring wharf portrays the traditional view of a floating flower market in the country. The spring garden, on the other hand, illustrates a series of different species of flowers and countryside vegetables. Meanwhile, the spring contribution corner displays flower products from many artists hailing from the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam.

Besides, five flower fields of chrysanthemum, sunflower, periwinkle, and cosmos flowers also decorate a large part of the festival in vivid colors. The festival is expected to attract millions of visitors in Ho Chi Minh City and from neighboring provinces during its run from January 17-29. The Lunar New Year 2020 will fall on January 25 with many Vietnamese people having been preparing for this public holiday for the past two weeks.

Phu My Hung, around eight kilometers from the city center, houses a large expats community in Ho Chi Minh City thanks to its diverse amenities and fresh air.
